Focus - Does your Customer know what to do?
Many many websites have no real purpose, at least from a customer point of view. I am sure the people behind them have some idea of what they would like that website to do, but if it is not apparent to the person visiting the site - then your website has not done its job.
So how do you make sure customers know what to do. First put yourself in their mind, and get out of your ego. A website is not to brag about your business. Whether the website is to sell goods, get email address, or build a relationship with your client, then make sure it does that.
And don't try to do all things with one website. Individual sites work best for individual tasks.
